Dawn holds a Bachelor of Music from the University
of Alberta and a Master of Music degree from
Northwestern University. She is an accomplished
trumpet player who was a member of the trumpet
section of the Edmonton Symphony from 1982 to
1993, while teaching trumpet at Alberta College
Conservatory of Music.
In addition to directing the Salt Spring Concert Band, Dawn currently teaches private trumpet and brass lessons out of her home studio and coaches chamber music ensembles, including a woodwind quintet made up of members of the Salt Spring Concert Band.
Dawn loves working with musicians of all ages and abilities and finds introducing her players to new kinds of music and pushing them to higher and higher musical heights extremely rewarding. Dawn is also a freelance writer, mother of three children, one of whom plays with the concert band. Dawn also plays viola with Bach on the Rock.
